From September 8 to 15, 1992, William Hinton joined several Chinese delegates and a Philippine journalist stationed in Beijing at what was designated a "consultation" on China sponsored by the Philippine-China Development Resource Center, a non-governmental organization dedicated to friendship, contact, and exchange between the Philippines and the People's Republic of China. The consultation, held in Manila, included a number of trips to various parts of the city sponsored by sister NGOs and meetings with delegates of other organizations. The following is a letter written by Hinton to his sister and brother-in-law after attending the affair. —The Editors
