Abstract

Only the voices of the emerging ruling ideology in the Soviet Union are heard in the news and commentary columns of our establishment press. There are, however, analysts in the Soviet Union who see things differently. This article distills and addresses the thinking of a large number of Russian-language writers unknown in this country, except perhaps to some specialists who follow Russian newspapers and magazines. Because of the unfamiliarity of the writers discussed here, we have included more references than is normal in an MR article. —The Editors
