Abstract

It should be obvious that the present world situation cannot be properly understood without a clear understanding of imperialism and for this a theory adequately explaining the origin and main operating features of imperialism is essential. One of the leading efforts to supply such a theory is undoubtedly Lenin's Imperialism. Yet many writers, including radicals, tend to oversimplify and distort Lenin's pioneering theory of this subject, often condensing his analysis into a simple formula and not infrequently confusing Lenin's views with those of Rosa Luxemburg. This explains why we are presenting in this space a piece which, because it deals at some length with such common errors, may help to clarify the central theoretical issues.
