The Nature of Soviet Society, Part II

Abstract

In this space in the November issue of Monthly Review I summarized and commented briefly on the Foreword (Avant- Propos) to the first volume of Charles Bettelheim's new work on the Soviet Union. Here I want to indicate some of the major themes dealt with in the rest of the book and finish by raising a few questions of theory and method.
