Democratic or Socialist Revolution in Greece?

Abstract

This article bears the same title as a book that was written in 1934 and to some degree is its summary. The author was Panetelis Pouliopoulos, the Secretary-General of the KKE (Greek Communist Party) in 1924-1925. The questions he discussed forty years ago are exactly the questions which have dominated the Greek movement since the coup of 1967. What are the goals the Greek proletariat must set for itself? Is the way to liberation through a transitional alliance with the Greek bourgeoisie, or is it through autonomous struggle under its own leadership while allying itself only with other oppressed classes and groups?
