Abstract

A note from the Editors: We would like to welcome here a new constituency among the readers of Monthly Review and MR Press books—the readers behind bars—and to acquaint other readers with them. In the March 1970 issue we offered free subs and books at half-price to prisoners. A month later we wrote that the response had been "a good deal larger than we originally anticipated" and we appealed to readers for donations. At the same time we began to send books not at half-price but gratis. Though the several hundred dollars we received from a number of generous readers were used up within a few months, we continued to meet all requests.
