Abstract

What follows is the text of a letter addressed to Paul M. Sweezy, together with a reply. Charles Bettelheim is the Director of the Centre d'Etudes de Planification Socialiste at the Sorbonne in Paris. His latest book, La Transition vers l'economie socialists (Paris, Maspero, 1968), will be published in English translation by Monthly Review Press. The translation of Professor Bettelheim's letter is by Alfred Ehrenfeld. -Ed.
