At first glance, observed the July 14th note of the Central Committee of the CPSU, commenting on the June 14th note of their Chinese opposite numbers, the Sino-Soviet controversy might look like a scholastic exercise, a dialectical tempest in a teacup. This, however, would be an error, due to the Chinese habit of twisting Marxist-Leninist texts, and particularly the resolutions of the 1957 and 1960 world congresses of Communist Parties, to suit their purposes.This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.
