Abstract

There are countries where the decline and eventual defeat of a government open up complex questions as to the identity of its successor. Britain is not one such country: the decline of the present Conservative Government, which has recently assumed spectacular proportions, and its defeat at the next General Election, which seems increasingly probable, can only have one beneficiary, namely the Labor Party. Talk of a Liberal revival remains just talk, while the Communist Party does not require mention when it comes to electoral calculations.
