Mexico: The Janus Faces of Twentieth-Century Bourgeois Revolution

Abstract

Mexico's revolutionary break with her 19th-century legacy of feudalism and imperialism, carried out at the cost of a million lives, began in 1910. Many of the political, economic, and social fruits of the Mexican Revolution were slow in ripening, and many will be gathered only in the future. From the U.S. point of view, Mexico seemed to be setting the worst kind of example to the rest of Latin America.
