The 22nd Congress and International Socialism

Abstract

In what follows, I propose to comment briefly on topics suggested by the first two of the eight questions submitted by the editors of Nuovi Argomenti as a basis for this symposium. The first question deals with the contents, implications, and significance of the new Program adopted by the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPUSSR). The second question deals with what in the United States has come to be frequently referred to, not inappropriately, as de-Stalinization. It should be unnecessary to add that I make no pretense at answering the questions; I am merely expressing certain thoughts to which the questions have given rise.
