Abstract

Under this heading, we publish from time to time discussion pieces sent in by our readers. The particular objects of discussion this time are "Common Sense on the Soviet Union," by William Mandel (February 1955), and "What Price Socialism?", by Harvey O'Connor (April 1955). Mrs. Wheeler, "A Correspondent," and Dr. Schlesinger address themselves to Mr. Mandel's article, while Mr. Lasker comments on the proposals of the famous British socialist, G. D. H. Cole, which were summarized by Mr. O'Connor. Mr. Mandel's "Rejoinder" applies only to the contributions of Mrs. Wheeler and "A Correspondent," since Dr. Schlesinger's piece arrived too late to be shown to him. -THE EDITORS (Discussion by Eleanor Wheeler, A Correspondent, William Mandel, Rudolf Schlesinger, and Bruno Lasker.)
