Abstract

Recent and current trials and purges in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe undoubtedly have many meanings, but first and foremost they mean that the leaders of the Soviet bloc are paying President Eisenhower and Secretary of State Dulles the compliment of taking them seriously.
