The Korean war shows that our rulers are leading us along the road to national defeat and disaster. It was a series of blunders by the United States government which set the stage for the war in the first place. On various occasions high-placed officials indicated that the United States did not consider Korea to be a strategically important or defensible area; but at the very same time our government established, and allowed its own prestige to become tied up with, an incredibly weak and corrupt regime in South Korea.This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.
