Abstract

This past August an article appeared in the Boston Globe regarding a study of the food consumption "habits" of the United States and its two neighbors. The writer commented that the study showed: "Canadians and Americans eat too much. But their southern neighbors eat too little." Now one can attribute this kind of analysis to naivete and simple ignorance or to a grotesque cynicism. Although I suspect that the former is true, it doesn't really matter.
