Abstract

One of the important intellectual debates that underlay the Chinese Cultural Revolution was whether or not there exists today a class struggle within the People's Republic of China. Is this a mere exercise in Marxian exegetics, or is this an important question? And even if it is theoretically important, does it make any difference to the practical activity of the forces of the Left in the rest of the world?
