Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the nature of state intervention in the Indian economy. We shall, however, omit from our purview agriculture and foreign capital. We shall thus be mainly concerned with the organized industrial sector. It is indeed here that the role of the state assumes its most pronounced character.
