Abstract
The revolutionary movement in this country today is largely concentrated in two sectors of society: the black ghettos and the colleges and universities. In both sectors the revolutionary element is in a minority, probably a quite small minority, but in each case it is an active and articulate minority which commands the sympathy of many outside its ranks and under certain circumstances can count on their rallying to its side. Black revolutionaries and student revolutionaries share an ideology which is emphatic and explicit in rejecting the capitalist-imperialist system with its inherent evils of oppression, exploitation, inequality, racism, and war. This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.
