Abstract

A one million lire "Citta di Omegna" literary award is conferred annually by a committee of former Italian resistance fighters whose president, a maquisard, is now mayor of the little town of Omegna in northern Italy, near Lake Como. The award winners to date have been: Henri Alleg, Jean-Paul Sartre, Gunther Anders, Frantz Fanon, Blas De Otero, and Roberto Battaglia.
