Why is the United States fighting a cold war against China and a hot war in South Vietnam? Secretary McNamara told the House Armed Services Committee on February 18, 1965 that it was "to halt Communist expansion in Asia." Asia is presently about half socialist. Siberia, People's China, North Korea, North Vietnam, and Mongolia, with a total population of about 800 million, are busy with socialist construction.
