Abstract

Since I used to be an old newspaperman myself, I still look at the papers to reaffirm my conviction that the press has been going down hill steadily since my involuntary severance in 1934. Not, of course, that the newspapers were perched on a summit of editorial excellence even then. Old Man Scripps and Joseph Pulitzer left no spiritual heirs and the subsequent birth statistics have never been encouraging.
