Abstract

Eight East European countries (beside the Soviet Union) are preoccupied with socialist construction. They are Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, Poland, Rumania, and Yugoslavia. Between December, 1961, and April, 1962, we spent 14 weeks in these countries, regretfully omitting Albania because our U.S. passports read "not valid for travel to or in Albania."
