Abstract

Africa has the independence-self-determination fever. Ten years ago the nations and peoples of Asia were turning their backs on imperialism and setting their faces toward a future in which they proposed to pick and choose for themselves. Mao Tse-tung described this about-face in China by saying: "The Chinese people have turned over and stood up." Today Africa's turn has come—with a rush.
