Abstract

The Tory party won its narrow and unsatisfying victory only by the chances of the British system of elections. After six years of intensive propaganda, which has made the most of the hardships of austerity, and after the expenditure of several million pounds, it still failed to win a majority of the popular vote. Labor remains the largest party in the country, polling 13.9 millions to the 13.6 millions given to the Conservatives, and the 700,000 won by the rump of the Liberals.
