Abstract

One of the great weaknesses of the American Left is its incapacity or unwillingness to make a serious study of American society. To be sure, a considerable amount of research is undertaken with a view to meeting the needs of propaganda, but penetrating work on the structure and development of American capitalism seems to be almost wholly absent.
